Beach Walks Are One of the Delights of a Stay in Norfolk
If you are staying in North Norfolk hotels, the coast is never that far away. The Norfolk shoreline is a fantastic and varied feature of the county with wide open beaches, small quays and inlets, marshes that teem with wildlife and picturesque harbours and seaside towns.
Some of the better known Norfolk luxury hotels are close by, either in the small villages just inland or close to the market towns of north Norfolk more info. Taking a walk along the shore is a wonderful way to get some fresh air and exercise and enjoy the varied coastline of Norfolk. Some stretches have superb golden sand with beach that stretches into the distance to the sea while other parts sit in the shelter of cliffs and are pebbly. In addition, there are parts of the coastline that take in marshes and mudflats where you can see an extensive array of birds, such as in places like Cley or Blakeney.
Many Norfolk hotels are within easy access to the coast so it is often only a short drive to places such as Brancaster, Cromer, Holkham or Sheringham where you can park up and stretch your legs. The beach is attractive whether on a warm summer morning or a chilly winter's day when you can wrap up warm against the elements and enjoy a truly bracing walk as the waves crash ashore.
When it comes to hotels North Norfolk has a great selection and most of them usually have information available on good ideas for beach walks and the reception staff generally have a good local knowledge and are able to offer advice on which beach may be best for a walk. And whether it is in the summer, or winter, there's usually a small café or pub not too far away to get a refreshing drink or a warming cup of hot chocolate or coffee.
There are also a number of guides and leaflets available from local tourist offices which will have information that will help plan a walk and offer suggestions on what else to do after you've had some fresh air on the beach.
